Legend has it that Stan Mikita invented the curved blade and here is evidence of how much the Hall of Fame center pushed envelope before the NHL decided to limit how far players could go with the bend. Stan’s 1960s Chicago Black Hawks Northland Custom Pro game-used stick displays the wicked “banana hook” curved blade that had goalies ducking for cover throughout the league. “Mikita” is stamped lower on the shaft and Stan’s now-retired No. “21” is handwritten below his thick white tape job on the knob. Most of Stan’s original tape job also remains on the absurdly curved blade of this gamer, which displays plenty of black marks from game use.
