Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Taking place in Norway from May 1st to 16th, the 1999 IIHF World Championships featured 16 teams, with the Czech Republic taking home the title. Midway through the tournament, Hockey Canada President Bob Nicholson announced that Team Canada would wear an “S.C.” patch on their jerseys to honour the recently deceased Steve Chiasson for the remainder of their games, with this jersey worn by Shane Doan in the tournament sporting the important memorial. A Nike label with “58” sizing remains affixed to the collar, with Nike swoosh logos over the upper front and reverse. Styled with the familiar Hockey Canada team crest with embroidered detailing, the knit and mesh gamer also sports matching Hockey Canada logos over each shoulder, along with the aforementioned Steve Chiasson patch over the right shoulder.
A Nike bar code numbered “28379” has also been added to the inside hem. With just a few dark marks visible over the front and sleeves, there is also a large stick mark over the lower reverse.
