Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
A legend in Detroit with thirteen season spent in a Red Wings uniform, Sergei Fedorov is also the first Russian player to reach the 1,000 point plateau in the history of the National Hockey League. A three-time Stanley Cup champion who also won the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1994, offered here is this pair of rookie era sticks used by or issued to Fedorov during the mid-1990s upon his arrival to the NHL. Starting with the game-used lumber that is present in the lot, the Louisville TPS made twig in red and displays with "Fedorov" stamped over the upper shaft while it retains its original tape job of ribbed white over the handle/knob and black wrapped around the blade. Signed by the 2015 HHOF inductee over the forehand side of the lower shaft with a blue marker ink signature that displays without issue, the stick displays game-wear in the form of numerous marks and abrasions throughout the length of the shaft, lower shaft and heel while the blade tape sports marks over both sides and a cut on the forehand side. Additionally, some wear is seen to both the blade tape and wood of the blade on the underside in the form of small-to-medium sized tears and a small crack. For the game-issued stick, a Sher-Wood P.M.P 5030 model in natural wood with red details, "Fedorov" is stamped to the upper shaft and the stick has never been taped over either the handle/knob or blade. With the pattern number stamped found on the backside of the upper shaft as well as another stamp thats is unidentifiable by also includes the word "sports", the accent sticker found at the bottom of the shaft is intact and the stick shows just light handling wear via a few small marks throughout. Of note, through research we were not able to find any photos of Fedorov using a Sher-Wood made stick in the era of the early-1990s.
