Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
To both the delight of new American hockey viewers and the dismay of knowledgeable Canadian hockey fans, Gary Bettman and the NHL began using special pucks fitted with electronic sensors during the mid-1990s, with these “Fox Trax” examples seeing use during televised contests. Inglasco 960 models, both sides would show a blue halo, with this changing to a red “comet tail” when shot by a player. We have an exceptionally scarce prototype/sample puck, with this example just a section, with the inner circuitry and sensors all visible. The four purple sensors that are normally visible through each end of the puck along with the additional dozen that are visible through the side are intact, with the sectioned puck showing just half of the embossed InGlasCo logo along the side. With just light wear present, this electronic marvel is the ideal companion piece to any advanced puck, prototype or Fox Trax collection.
