Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Extremely short-lived, playing only five seasons in the NHL, the Hamilton Tigers were formed from the sale of the famous Quebec Bulldogs in 1920. The club boasted a number of superstars despite it's limited time in the league, including Joe Malone, Babe Dye and Billy Burch. This lot offers a group of 18 original player photos, with three from 1921-23 (NHL), and thirteen from the early-1930s (OHA). The remaining two photos are the same image of Jack Howard with the Hamilton Patricias during the early-1930s, with one appearing signed. All in the 4" x 6" range, the 1921-23 NHL photos include Cully Wilson, Mickey Roach and Leo Reise, while the early-1930s OHA photos include Blake, Radke, Liscombe, Chisholm, Primeau, Bennett, Fitzgerald, Moch and Charlie Teno - with this group all having the players name handwritten along the base. There are two duplicates each for Teno and Liscombe (three photos total for both of these players). The entire group displays wonderfully, with light corner wear, silvering and the odd pinhole, with the 1930s photos showing glue residue on the reverse.
