Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Established by the Parliament of Canada in May of 1873, the North West Mounted Police began as a central police force, eventually evolving into the RCMP through merging with the eastern Dominion Police in 1920. This sword was produced to commemorate the centennial of its creation in 1973. Produced by Wilkinson of London, the attractive and weighty keepsake features a beautifully etched blade with 18 carat gold-plated guard, pommel and quillons. Finished with a solid rosewood handle and engraved images including the march west of the original recruits along with the four historical RCMP crests, an engraved serial number of “C0968” is also visible along the backside of the blade just above the guard. A COA from Wilkinson Sword will accompany.
In beautiful condition, there is some minor pitting along the length of both sides of the blade, with additional wear to the pommel and guard. The handle also exhibits a small grain separation, but this is mentioned strictly for accuracy, as it remains completely intact and solid.
