Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Perhaps the toughest goaltender the NHL has ever seen, Ron Hextall is remembered for both his influential mobile style, along with being the first netminder to actually shoot the puck and score an NHL goal. This Flyers jersey was worn by the Brandon native in the second half of the 1997-98 season. Center Ice and Nike size tagging is affixed to the collar including handwritten “27”, with NHL and Nike patches on the back bottom hem. Styled with the classic Flyers team crest, the airknit jersey also sports dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name-on-nameplate, along with a “97/98” handwritten tag affixed to the fight strap. Originally obtained directly from the Flyers through their trainer Jim Evers, the jersey will be accompanied by an LOA.
Game-wear on the Hextall gamer is light, with just a few random dark marks present, including examples on the lower front, near the team crest and below the right shoulder.
