Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

The first player in history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy while playing for the losing team in the Stanley Cup finals, netminder Roger Crozier would compete in three finals throughout his career, with his last occurring in 1975. We have a Washington Capitals jersey that was prepared for the Ontario native in 1977-78. While Crozier didn’t appear in any games for the Capitals during the 1977-78 NHL season, he is listed in their 1977-78 media guide and is shown on the included 1977-78 official team photo wearing most likely this #35 jersey (he wore #31 in 1976-77). It should also be noted that while this uniform was specifically made for Crozier, we are unsure if it was worn in pre-season games or just the photo-shoot (the jersey shows evidence of being washed).
Wilson size tagging graces the collar, with “Washington” and “Capitals” placed across the chest in individual tackle twill letters. Featuring affixed stars in alternating red and blue colours across the front, reverse and sleeves, the vintage V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Crozier” across the nameplate in matching material. The fight strap has also been removed. With just a few random marks present, the heavy knit garment remains in wonderful condition. Crozier appeared in just 3 games for Washington in 1976-77, allowing just a pair of goals over eight periods played.
