Rogie Vachon piled up memorable moments while playing for Team Canada in 1976. As the main man between the pipes at the 1976 Canada Cup, Rogie tallied a record of 6 wins and 1 loss and was named Team Canada's tournament MVP. Thinking back on the series, Rogie recalls: "I remember the last game we played against the Czechs, I made one of the best glove saves of my career. A forward came in, about thirty feet away, I think it was [Ivan] Hlinka. He was the top star in those days for the Czech team. I just grabbed it and that was in overtime." This historic Team Canada sweater was worn by Vachon in a number of big games including the first game of the finals and the match-up against the Soviets. The heavy red knit sweater with applied white rubber half leaf Canada crest, name and numbers has the AK manufacturers tag in the collar, marked size 44, with a crossover style v-neck and reinforced elbows. Originating from the personal collection of Rogie Vachon, his signed LOA will accompany.
Game wear includes numerous smaller stick slashes especially on the front crest with more wear on the arms. A few stains show up and the right sleeve with more spots on the lower back. Rogie has signed within the team crest section adding his number, with the signature heavily faded. The jerseys from the white set were given to Czech players in the famous center-ice exchange at the end of the last game, with Rogie saving this red example.
