The first name off the board at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, having been called upon by the New York Islanders, Rick DiPietro became just 2nd goaltender in the history of the National Hockey League draft to be taken with the first overall pick. Named to the NHL All-Star Game in 2008 and representing his homeland of the United States on numerous occasions across all levels, offered here is this photo-matched New York Islanders third jersey worn by DePietro on January 13th, 2007 against the New Jersey Devils. Made by Reebok, the classic tie-neck style bight orange and navy coloured garment displays both size "60" and "Goalie Style" tags affixed to the inner collar while a Reebok patch has been added over the reverse neckline. Accented over the reverse hem with a sewn on NHL shield logo, the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Islanders team crest that features embroidered details throughout while the Garth Brooks "Teammates for Kids" patch is sewn over the right breast. Displaying DiPietro's number "39" over the sleeves and verso in sewn on dual layer white-over-navy tackle twill numerals, "DiPietro" is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back. Having been worn for just a single contest, the jersey shows just light game-wear via a lone puck mark that is found on the inside of the left sleeve, to the left of the number "3". Sporting a MeiGray tag numbered "D02894" that has been sewn inside the reverse hem, the company's population report lists the jersey as a "Third w/ "Teammates For Kids" Patch - 1/13/07" specimen. A matching LOA will accompany the piece.
Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #73084093 and #73084257 (January 13th, 2007 vs New Jersey) to the puck mark on the inside of the left sleeve in the first image and to the loose white threads off the numbers of the right sleeve in the second image.
