From his swan song season that culminated in a Stanley Cup victory after 23 NHL seasons as arguably the game's best defenseman, we have a Colorado Avalanche alternate captain’s jersey worn by HOF superstar Ray Bourque during the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals. A size 58 fly tag adhered to a made in Canada label is affixed to the inner collar with embroidered NHL and KOHO crests adorning the back neckline and bottom hem respectively. Featuring the attractive Avs team crest, the maroon v-neck has been styled with textured triple-twill numbers, along with matching alternate crests over each shoulder while the all important 2001 Stanley Cup Finals patch resides over the right breast. The jersey does not feature the common trait of “pinched-in” sleeves commonly seen on Bourque gamers of this era but Bourque can be seen in game 6 wearing a jersey without the modified sleeves. Game wear is nicely exhibited with two board burns found on each sleeve as well as black stick marks found on the lower front and crest. Red paint transfer is also seen on the first back number "7" while the second one has been signed by Bourque with a black ink signature that displays without issue. A garment worthy of any advanced HOF collection, we should note that Bourque wore multiple jerseys within any given game or set, and has been known to gift game jerseys to people, including staff. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
