Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Arguably the most famous Canada vs Russia series after the Summit Series, the 1987 Canada Cup featured a three-game final, with the Canadians late game winner in the final contest scored by Mario Lemieux on a pass from Wayne Gretzky one of the most exciting goals in hockey history. From his personal collection, we have the ring that was presented to legendary defenceman Ray Bourque for his participation with Team Canada. Size 11 with an approx weight of 11 grams, a Team Canada half maple leaf sits raised on the tableau, encompassed by “Coupe Canada Cup” in raised letters, with four small diamonds inserted beneath. “1987” appears engraved on one shank, with “Bourque” engraved within the other. Stamped "10K" and “MacGregor” on the inner band, a signed LOA from Ray Bourque will accompany. A portion of the sales from the Ray Bourque personal collection will benefit the Bourque Family Foundation.
The ring displays wonderfully, with light wear throughout including minor surface scratches, along with a few very small dings along edges.
