Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Appealing international hockey souvenirs, these "Gladstone" sculptures were produced at a high cost prior to the 1984 Canada Cup tournament, according to a Team Canada executive. Presented to Team Canada member Ray Bourque, this stylized maple leaf which also represents man in motion when viewed from another angle, displays “Gladstone”, the sculptor’s name, at the bottom and stands atop a black plastic base with "Coupe Canada Cup" on a small metal plaque. The sculpture is very nicely preserved and stands 9” tall, including its 6” x 4” x 2” base. We should also mention how Canada recaptured the Canada Cup by sweeping Sweden in a best-of-three final, with John Tonelli deservedly earning tournament MVP honors. From Ray Bourque’s personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany. A portion of the sales from the Ray Bourque personal collection will benefit the Bourque Family Foundation.
With just light wear present, the sculpture displays brilliantly.
