Spending over half of his career NHL games played in the uniform of the Pittsburgh Penguins between 1976-77 and 1979-80, we offer this Penguins jersey originally worn by Blair Chapman in 1977-78 that was recycled for Greg Redquest's use during the 1978-79 pre-season. A mesh construction garment made by Stall and Dean, the company's label along with washing instructions and a sewn over "7" year tag are all affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front with a Penguins team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have had Chapman's number "9" removed from them, with clear evidence of their former placement still easily visible in all areas, and replaced with Redquest's pre-season number of "37" in dual layer numerals. Having had "Redquest" spelt out in single layer tackle twill navy blue letters across the affixed matching nameplate over the top of the reverse, once again evidence of the former "Chapman" nameplate that was once in place can be seen on the interior via a few left over threads. Worn for the entirety of the 1977-78 campaign, the jersey exhibits strong game-wear with numerous team repairs, totalling out to approximately ten (10) by our count, found throughout the piece as well as board burns over both sleeves, slight stick marks over the right sleeve and front and good piling over the front hem. Additionally, heavy pilling is found on the interior as well as a customized dual-clasp garter style fight strap. A rare style that doesn't come up often and is accompanied by an LOA, it is worth pointing out that it incorrectly lists the players name as "Glenn Redquist" and states that they wore it in 1977-78, not Chapman.
