Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Exceptional and striking, this miniature Stanley Cup presented to Petr Klima represents the fifth and ultimate title of the great Edmonton Oilers dynasty. With Wayne Gretkzy traded to L.A., Mark Messier won the Hart Trophy while finishing runner-up to the Great One in the regular season scoring race. After rallying to edge Winnipeg in the first round of the playoffs, the Oilers swept the Kings and beat Chicago in six to reach the final. Klima's triple-overtime goal won Game 1 and Craig Simpson scored the Cup winner in Game 5 as goalie Bill Ranford claimed the Conn Smythe. Standing a shade under 13" tall, this magnificent silver-plate Cup has acquired a wonderful patina. The barrel is engraved with the names of the Oilers players, including the seven who made it five Cups in seven years with Edmonton, namely Messier, Anderson, Fuhr, Kurri, Lowe, Huddy and Gregg, along with with those of the team's coaches and executives. A partially cut Boffey's sticker is affixed to the green felt on the bottom of the black wood base. Beautifully preserved with very small spots of tarnish, this magnificent Stanley Cup trophy comes with Petr Klima's signed LOA.
