Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
The last surviving member of the fabled 1934-35 single-season St Louis Eagles, Pete Kelly was born in St Vital in 1913 – currently a suburb of Winnipeg, and after making his NHL debut for the Eagles, spent seasons with a number of clubs in numerous leagues including the Detroit Red Wings, New York Americans and Pittsburgh Hornets. From the early part of Kelly’s career in Motor City, we have a framed Detroit Red Wings “1935-36-37” panoramic team photo that was obtained from his family. At approx 10” x 20”, the glossy period print depicts the full squad and management in the traditional on ice team pose including Kelly, along with HOFers Ebbie Goodfellow, Marty Barry and Jack Adams. Each player’s handwritten name has been printed along the base, with “Detroit Red Wings World Champions 1935-36-37” handwritten in white over the image along the top. Sporting a few creases and surface indentations, the photo displays well, framed to 10 ½” x 20 ½”, with wear to the period frame to note.
