A product of the Bowling Green Falcons in the NCAA who was drafted 74th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 1984, Paul Ysebaert would go on to play a total of 532 games in the National Hockey League for team like New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago, Winnipeg and Tampa Bay over the course of 11 years in the league. Spending nearly three (3) full seasons between 1987 and 1990 with New Jersey's AHL affiliate, offered here is this Utica Devils jersey worn by Ysebaert during his first two years of pro hockey in 1987-88 and/or 1988-89. Made by CCM and void of any tagging affixed to the inner collar, the Ultrafil garment, in the Devils' classic colours of red, green and white, measures out to roughly a size "50". Decorated over the front with a Utica team crest in layered tackle twill with matching New Jersey primary logo patches having been added over both shoulders, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have had Ysebaert's number "18" sewn to them in dual layer red-over-green tackle twill numerals. Displaying "Ysebaert" spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate that shows a variety of stains throughout its length, it is worth noting that evidence of two former nameplates, one shorter and one longer, can be seen when the jersey is turned inside out, likely indicating that the jersey was worn by two other players during the 1988-89 season when Ysebaert, who only played in 56 games with Utica that year, was either dealing with injury or on a call-up to New Jersey of the NHL. Absolutely riddled with game-wear, a total of 75+ team repairs of all shapes and sizes are seen throughout the front and both sleeves of the battle tested garment while additional wear, also present throughout the piece, is found in the form of stick marks, board burns and coloured paint transfers as well as general dinginess from repeated wear, washings and age. Additionally, the fight strap on the interior shows signs of numerous washings as well as salting while heavy pilling is observed throughout the interior as well.
