A current Stanley Cup champion and holder of the Conn Smythe Trophy the season the offered stick saw use, Patrick Roy would post an impressive 2.50 GAA during the 1993-94 NHL campaign, and allow only 16 goals throughout 6 playoff contests. This photo-matched stick was used by St Patrick during the 1993-94 Stanley Cup playoffs. A KOHO Revolution model with “P. Roy” stamped to the upper shaft, the original white but now yellowing tape is in place over the blade and faded blue cloth wrap over the upper shaft with white-over-red tape on the knob, with “Playoffs 1994” handwritten to the upper paddle. Heavy game-use is exhibited on the lumber, with wear to the taped section of blade which includes a tear to the tape, and numerous dark marks to the paddle and shaft as well as considerable red goal post paint transfer marks. There is also a bit of surface loss from chipping just beneath the taped upper shaft.
Four digital images from the 1994 playoffs have been matched to a number of marks on the paddle, to a pair of marks on the lower reverse of the stick (between the tape) and to the overall wear present.
