Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023

A season that saw the Quebec born star record a stat line of 31-16-5 with a .912 save percentage and lead the Montreal Canadiens to an appearance in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Patrick Roy would be recognized at seasons end as the winner of the Vezina Trophy as the National Hockey League's best goaltender. Hailing from the playoffs of that award winning season, we offer this stick used by Saint Patrick while tending the goal of the famed bleu, blanc et rouge. A Louisville TPS model with "Roy" stamped to the lower shaft and a blue ink cross draw on top of the stick, the twig retains its original tape job of white cloth over the handle/knob and blade as well as the foil accent sticker while a date stamp reading "April 18 1990", the day before the start of the Canadiens second round series against the Boston Bruins, is found on the underside of the upper shaft along side additional stamped notations of "K" and "2". Exhibiting good game-use throughout, the stick displays numerous puck marks throughout the shaft, paddle and blade as well as red post paint transfers, blue coloured marks, small tears to both sides of the blade tape (as well as tears to the underside) a small dent to the bottom of the blade, a couple of small cracks to the top edge of the paddle and a crack extending into the blade from the toe. A beautiful gamer used by one of the greatest to ever play the game, the stick hails from the personal collection of Brian Skrudland and comes with his signed LOA.
