Drafted 43rd overall by the New Jersey Devils in 1982 and going on to play 1424 games in the National Hockey League, Pat Verbeek, now serving as the General Manager of the Anaheim Ducks, would win a Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars in 1999 and a gold medal with Canada at the 1994 IIHF World Championship. A member of the Hartford Whalers between 1989 and 1995, serving as the team's captain beginning in 1991, offered here is this photo-matched Whalers jersey donned by Verbeek in 1993-94. Made by CCM, a Maska Ultrafil tag displaying Verbeek's number "16" in black marker is affixed to the inner collar along with a size "50" fly tag while the logos of CCM and the NHL shield have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Whalers team crest in layered tackle twill, the distinguished captain's "C" is affixed over the left breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Verbeek's number "16" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Verbeek" is spelt out in single layer navy twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying a Custom Crafted team stamp on the inside of the reverse hem that denotes the jersey as being an "Official Hartford Whalers 2nd Set 1993-94 Season" offering, the jersey exhibits excellent game wear in the form of stick marks throughout the piece, board burns over both sleeves, board board paint transfer marks over the right sleeve, a team repair to the underside seam of the left sleeve near the left cuff and pilling to the right cuff and interior, it is also worth mentioning that there are spot stains observed throughout the piece and the nameplate is slightly yellowed. With the fight strap still present on the interior, the jersey is accompanied by a Byron's Hockeyland LOA.
Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, the jersey is matched with Verbeek's 1994-95 Pinnacle Select card to the angled stick mark in the grey cuff section of the left sleeve, the board burn in the top navy stripe of Verbeek's left sleeve near his elbow and to stick marks near the right armpit and over the right shoulder/neck area.
