Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
The first season the club would function without Bobby Hull since the mid-1950s, the Chicago Black Hawks completed the 1972-73 NHL season as West Division champions, and advanced past the Blues and Rangers to meet the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup final. Star defender Pat Stapleton would finish the playoffs with 17 points in just 16 games, and we offer his personal Clarence Campbell Trophy presented for the Black Hawks status as West Division regular season champions. At 11” in height, the silver-plated handled cup with removable lid (the lid is currently unremovable) and chased detailing sits atop a hexagon-shaped 3-inch wooden base and is engraved “Chicago Blackhawks – 1972-73 – Patrick Stapleton” on the front, with the name of the trophy and its "1968" year of inception on the reverse. Sporting light wear throughout with small areas of surface loss, there are also numerous scratches visible but no obtrusive dents. An LOA from the Stapleton family will accompany.
