Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
"From failing hands to you we throw, the torch, be yours to hold it high." Those famous words, from a poem written by John McCrae during World War I, were stenciled to the wall of the Montreal Canadiens' dressing room at the old Montreal Forum and were joined by the images of great Canadien players, to act as motivational inspiration for the then current day players, or torch-bearers. This is the quarter-inch thick piece that featured the picture of the Habs' first true superstar, Newsy Lalonde. The unique memorabilia, on masonite-type wood, is bigger than life-size at approximately 8" by 12", includes two small nail holes and is accompanied by its original name plaque. Currently housed in a glass frame, and removable if so desired by the winning bidder. What a look!
