Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The eleventh and final occasion the NHL All-Star Game visited the hallowed Montreal Forum, the 1993 best-on-best showcase was the official 44th National Hockey League All-Star Game. The Wales Conference crushed the Campbell Conference 16-6, with Mike Gartner scoring four goals and taking home MVP honours. Used as the cover image for the 1993 NHL All-Star Game program, we have a stunning original framed painting by noted Canadiens’ artist Michel Lapensee. At approx 22” x 28” (exposed) and most likely displayed in the Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre, five legendary HOFers have been masterfully portrayed amid a large shimmering star, including Henri Richard, Frank Mahovlich, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy and Brett Hull. Double-matted and set within a large gilt frame to full dimensions of approx 30 ½” x 36 ½”, the artist has signed over the bottom right, with just some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
