Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The witness to over half a century of Red Wings games along with the cities earlier namesakes, the Detroit Olympia hosted its first contest in 1927 when the visiting Senators from Ottawa battled the Detroit Cougars. This Detroit Olympia seat has survived remaining completely original, resplendent in its crimson red finish. Standing just over 33” in height, the original plush leather seat back and covering remain in gorgeous tear-free condition. A date plaque has been affixed to the lower metal portion of the seat, and a white stenciled “4” is centered nearby, while the matching location designator at the seat’s summit remains faded but visible. With painted wooden arm rests and curved Art Deco metal sides, this Motown relic will please even the most discerning of collectors.
