Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Originating from the Hockey Diversified Inc NHL Goal Puck Program that witnessed pucks used to score goals during NHL games in 1972-73 and 1973-74 labeled and sold, we have a signed example from the second year of the program. This particular puck was used by Nick Libett to score the Detroit Red Wings 67th goal of the season vs the New York Islanders, at the Detroit Olympia, on Nov 24, 1973. Assisted by Bill Collins and Larry Johnston, it was Libett’s 13th of his 24 goals of the season, with a total of 237 career goals scored. Netted while short-handed at 10:53 of the second, the goal put the Wings up by three, with the contest finishing 6-4 for a victory at home. The rubberized Red Wings logo is a bit dark with encompassing residue, with the Goal Puck Program label also dark with blemishes, with Libett signing the label in red ballpoint.
