Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
A wonderful pair of slugs from the National Hockey League’s golden era of the Original Six is presented here in the form of these New York Rangers 1962-64 and Chicago Black Hawks 1964-67 game pucks. The Rangers puck features rubberized crests with “Official Art Ross National Hockey League Puck” over the obverse with the black outline and is void of the “Made in” designation. The obverse label shows well with minor scratching and scuffing. The reverse features the team crest of the Rangers that shows a dark spot that could possibly be a manufacturing defect and light scratching to the left side of the octagon. Condition of the puck is good with light scratching to the surface on both sides, a small cut to each side as well as on the side of the puck and a chip on the bottom of the reverse side. The Black Hawks slug is a 1964-67 example from Converse Rubber. Both sides feature rubberized crests (in the same style as the Rangers puck) that feature light toning with the obverse side also showing a few tiny red dots. The puck has a tacky feel and light surface wear on each side with the side remaining clean with sharp edges.
