Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Vintage slugs graced with signatures rarely make themselves available to the collecting community, especially examples featuring noteworthy teams and stars. We have just that offered, with an official 1942-50 CCM Art Ross game puck that has been team-signed by the 1953-54 New York Rangers. With just the NHL Art Ross rubberized label exposed, the vintage puck has white stick tape that has darkened, applied along the side and over the reverse, with approx. 11 ballpoint signatures present including Camille Henry and Bob Chrystal, with a second piece of loose tape that originally covered the Art Ross logo (an outline of the logo can easily be seen on the tape) containing 5 signatures including HOFers Harry Howell, Max Bentley and coach Frank Boucher.
The tape has darkened as mentioned, especially the area housing the majority of the signatures, with a number of the autographs hard to decipher. Additional signers include Ronty, Raleigh, Hergesheimer, Mickoski, Prentice, Kullman, Guidolin, Murphy and others.
