Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Splendid all-Rangers lot here includes half a dozen vintage team photos from the 1940s and two similar from 1949-50, a color Star Weekly affair from ’57-58 and a picture of the ’64-65 Blueshirts. Two of the same 12-photo picture packs from the mid-‘60s include Plante, Howell and Gilbert, while also at 5” by 7” are seven real photos including Henry, goalie Paille and coach Sullivan, as well as nine N.Y. Rovers photos, eight of them autographed. A half dozen ‘60s snapshots, (Geoffrion, Ratelle), six color pics from the early-‘70s, (GAG Line, Park) and 27 media photos from ’91-92, (Messier, Leetch, Graves, Gartner), highlight the individual shots, with six action wire photos, a swell ancient stereo-view of the interior of the old Madison Square Garden, a 1930s’ Camel Cigarette ad/comic featuring Dave Kerr and a few miscellaneous items completing the bonanza.
A ’69-70 Canadiens at Rangers program has water damage in the lower portion but features a nice cover shot of Gilbert, Hadfield and Ratelle, while a Dick Duff picture in one of the two picture packs has writing on the front that reads “He Look Likes Lee Oswald.” Otherwise, condition is generally good, with some tears in the Camel ad to be aware of. All-in-all, an interesting array for Ranger-lovers to consider.
