Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
Named for the owner of the Detroit Red Wings from 1932 to 1952, the James Norris Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL’s top "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position". We have a stunning photo of the famous trophy, and it’s been signed by 12 past recipients. At 16” x 20”, the glossy print features a full colour image of the award, with signatures on each side administered in silver paint pen, with each listing their respective winning season. Included from top to bottom, left to right are Red Kelly HOF, Brian Leetch HOF, Chris Chelios HOF, Larry Robinson HOF, Doug Wilson, Denis Potvin HOF, Paul Coffey HOF, Ray Bourque HOF, Pierre Pilote HOF, Harry Howell HOF, Rod Langway HOF and Jacques Laperriere HOF. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
The signatures display extremely well with no issues to report, while the photo itself exhibits some light wear in spots, along with a few touches to a couple of corners. We should also note that the photo was produced from the reverse negative, leaving all script on the trophy appearing backwards.
