Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
One of the most respected trophies in hockey, the Calder Memorial is annually awarded "to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League”. Rookie of the year honours began in 1932-33, with the actual trophy first presented to Syl Apps at the conclusion of the 1936-37 NHL season. We have a stunning photo of the famous trophy, and it’s been signed by 21 past recipients. At 16” x 20”, the glossy print features a full colour image of the award, with signatures on each side administered in silver paint pen, with each listing their respective winning season. Included from top to bottom, left to right are Hay, Meeker, Stastny HOF, Leetch HOF, Bourque HOF, Lund, Bure HOF, Hall HOF, Mahovlich HOF, Laperriere HOF, Belfour HOF, Bossy HOF, Backstrom, Rousseau, Perreault HOF, Laprade HOF, Robitaille HOF, Selby, Esposito HOF, Potvin HOF and Sergei Makarov HOF. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
The signatures display extremely well with no issues to report, while the photo itself exhibits some light wear in spots, along with a few touches to a couple of corners.
