Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

After defeating the Ottawa Senators in the ECHL Championship in the spring of 1907, the Montreal Wanderers embarked on a westward journey, looking to wrestle the Stanley Cup away from the Kenora Thistles. The challenge was accepted, and due to poor ice conditions in Kenora it was decided that a two-game series would be played in Winnipeg, with the Wanderers defeating Kenora on a combined goal total of 12-8. This standard-size postcard features an image of the Wanderers while in Winnipeg for the series, including prominent Hall of Famers Lester Patrick, Moose Johnson, Bruce Stuart, Riley Hern and Ernie Russell.
In very good condition overall, the postcard has a few small areas of staining on the front and reverse, but the central image is fairly clean and displays well. The back also features handwritten text listing (erroneously) the players in period blue ink.
