Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Beginning play in the late 19th century, the Montreal Royals were a minor league professional baseball team and member of the International League, folding after the 1960 season. The Royals competed for the Governors’ Cup eleven times, winning seven titles, including in 1958 when the club defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in the final. Celebrating the International League-champions, we have a baseball team-signed by the 1958 Royals including HOFer Tommy Lasorda. A Spalding International League sphere, 21 have signed in matching blue ballpoint, including Clay Bryant over the sweet spot (Bryant was a longtime manager in the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers minor league system, and also served as a pitching coach for the Dodgers in 1961), along with Tommy Lasorda, Sandy Amoros, Rene Valdes, Tommy Davis, Bob Darnell, John Jancse, Solly Drake, Bob Lennon, Clyde Parris, Bobby Dolan, Jim Koranda, Bill Harris, Harry Schwegman, Dick Gray, Dick Teed, Marty Devlin, Jackie Collum, Charlie Rabe and Dan Glatta. The signatures all display well with a bit of smudging, with some toning to the ball along with shellac that was added.
