Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Donated by Itech and originally sold in 2003 to raise funds for Hockey Fights Cancer, we have a goal mask painted in the iconic colours of the Canadiens, signed by three of Montreal’s favourite sons. Sporting the full interior padding, strapping and back plate, the mask feature’s a gorgeous bleu, blanc et rouge colour scheme painted by Frank Cipra, with iconic “CH” logos over each side. Jean Beliveau has signed over the forehead, Ken Dryden over the right side and Saku Koivu over the left, with each silver paint pen signature flawless. Cipra has signed the interior, adding “2002”, and we should note that this mask – along with others made, were only produced for that particular auction. A 14” x 11” x 12” plexiglass display case is included (the base extends), along with a COA from the NHL.
In beautiful condition, there is just a tiny bit of surface wear in spots, along with a minor scratch over the Habs logo on the left hand side. There is also a bit of paint loss along the edge, with this occurring from surface contact when placing the mask down. With these minimal flaws mentioned for complete accuracy, the mask displays wonderfully, and will serve as a centerpiece within any Habs collection.
