Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

Silencing all competition while topping the NHL regular-season with 19 points over second-place New York, the Montreal Canadiens would lose only 17 contests in 1957-58 on route to their third-consecutive Stanley Cup championship. This panorama photo feature’s the famous squad, and it’s an image we have never encountered. At approx 7 ½” x 19 ½”, the glossy black and white print pictures les Canadiens posed along the half circle at center ice of the Montreal Forum, including HOFers Plante, Beliveau, Harvey, Moore, Geoffrion, Johnson, Olmstead and the Richard brothers. A stamp from Famous Studio has been added near the center, with a second stamp from the photographer placed over the reverse along with their downtown Montreal address.
The photo exhibits light to moderate surface wear, with a few creases present including a large example that breaks the surface over the right side, with this not affecting the image area. The photo is also slightly “rolled” from side-to-side, with toning over the reverse.
