This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Running the full gamut of Montreal Canadiens rubber, we have a large puck collection totaling 50, with both official game and souvenir pucks included, ranging from the 1930s to 1980s. Highlighted by the three models of pucks that first witnessed official NHL use, we have a Spalding example from the 1930s, followed by a pair of Art Ross Tyer pucks, with the example that saw use in the NHL from 1942-50 along with a 1950-58 version. This is followed by a trio of Canadiens Original Six pucks including a pair from the first series issued with team logos (1958-62), along with a Converse example (1967-68). Next, we have 5 Canadiens game pucks with rubberized Converse reverses from 1969-73, 7 Canadiens game pucks with rubberized Viceroy reverses from 1973-83 and a pair of Canadiens practice pucks from the early-1970s.
Rounding out the lot, we have 6 vintage NHL practice pucks including a pair from the 1950s, a single example from the 1960s and 3 from the 1970s, along with a CCM “League Puck” (1960s), a Tyer Converse “Professional” puck (1960s), an Art Ross American League practice puck (1960s) and an “Official” Viceroy puck from the 1970s. There are also an additional 20 souvenir Canadiens pucks from the 1970s, which includes 14 different variations. The Spalding puck shows heavy use with wear to one of the logos, along with an “X” carved into the reverse. There are also a few edge chips/gouges as well as numerous cuts and slices. The 1942-50 Art Ross puck exhibits a bit of surface wear with a clean logo and no chips or damage whatsoever, while the 1950-58 Art Ross example has somewhat darkened logos and surface wear, with a few marks over one of the logos. Next, the 1969-73 Habs pucks vary, with moderate wear on each, with four of the five pucks having damage or fading to the logos. The remaining pucks also vary condition wise, with the majority seeing minor wear problems including toning or loss to the logos along with the odd slice or edge chip.
