Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Resplendent red fiberglass mask attributed to have been worn by goaltender Dave Gavel while with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey Association in the mid-1960s. Gavel, who saw action in just three games over two seasons in 1965-66 (with Bobby Orr!) and 1966-67, would go on to play two more seasons in the OHA Sr. circuit. The mask is a form-fitting creation that would cover from the forehead down around the chin. A solid red spray paint finish covers the front while the inside shows the natural brown fiberglass weave. In excellent condition with no chips or cracking to mention.
