Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024

The first player to reach the 500 goal mark in his National Hockey League career, Maurice Richard would also become the first man to register 50 goals in 50 games. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961 upon the conclusion of a career that saw him win eight (8) Stanley Cup championships as well as a Hart Trophy in 1947, "The Rocket" was also the first non-politician to be given a state funeral by the province of Quebec upon his passing in 2000. Offered here, we present this exquisite pendant charm that pays tribute to an illustrious career which set the benchmark for other goal scorers to chase. A stunning 10-karat gold and diamond creation which features an NHL logo above a "544" notation in diamonds, the desirable jewelry measures three quarters (3/4) of an inch in diameter with the diamonds still sparkling and the gold still fairly bright even after all these years, an engraving reading "Maurice Richard" is found in a lovely script over the reverse and is still easily able to be made out. A stunning piece that deserves no introduction, coming from the personal collection of one of the greatest players to ever grace the ice and one still regarded by many as the best to ever don the colours of the Montreal Canadiens in their history, the prized keepsake originally hails from Richard's personal collection and then by his daughter, Huguette, who had received it as a gift. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
