Awesome piece of NHL All-Star Game history! Swedish star Mats Naslund made the most of his opportunity to play with Mario Lemieux as they teamed up to all but single-handedly lead the Wales All-Stars to a thrilling 6-5 win in overtime at the 1988 ASG at the old St. Louis Arena. Wearing this No. 25 orange and black beauty with a custom-shortened hem, Naslund set an ASG record with five assists, his last setting up the winning goal by Lemieux, who took MVP honors with a record six points. Game wear includes black marks on the top left of the double-twill NHL crest on the front, a burn hole through both layers on the right elbow and a small black mark on the left sleeve. Big black marker dedicated autograph on the left upper back reads, “To Peter, Best Wishes, Mats Naslund 26”, the number he wore with the Montreal Canadiens and the Swedish national team.
Naslund wore No. 25 for the Wales All-Star in deference to Hall of Fame center Peter Stastny, who claimed the No. 26 he wore with the Quebec Nordiques by virtue of seniority.
The 39th NHL All-Star Game patch is sewn on the left shoulder and Maska Air-Knit fly tag is in the collar. No size is indicated; we measure it as a size 52.
The custom-shortened hem on the jersey is visible in images of the game, including Getty Images #71567275, which shows the long loose thread at the bottom of the second star on the back but is not high enough resolution to call a definitive photo-match.
