On the strength of Doug Weight’s team-leading 70 points, the Edmonton Oilers concluded the 1997-98 NHL season – their 19th in franchise history – in 3rd place in the Pacific Division, guaranteeing a first-round playoff meeting with Patrick Roy and the Colorado Avalanche. We have an especially large group of 35mm Edmonton Oilers negatives from the 1997-98 season totaling approx 5,535, which includes roughly 3,608 negatives from the first four games of the 1997-98 Western Conference Quarterfinals vs Colorado. All hailing from late in the season, the non-playoff negatives originate from the following matches; April 3rd vs Dallas, April 6th vs Vancouver, April 11th vs Calgary, April 15th vs Anaheim and April 18th vs Toronto. The playoff contests (first round vs Colorado) include Game 1 (Apr 22nd), Game 2 (Apr 24th), Game 3 (April 26th) and Game 4 (April 28th), with numerous images from each, including the overtime in Game 3. Additional images of fans and spectators during the playoffs along with dressing room moments are also included, with copies of the score sheets for most of the games.
