Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Following in the footsteps of a famous parent is never easy, but the task becomes herculean when the profession is hockey, and your father is the one and only Gordie Howe. Despite this setback, Mark Howe was able to forge out an impressive HOF career. This Flyers alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the defenceman in 1987-88. Maska Ultrafil tagging is affixed to the collar, with an embroidered CCM crest on the back bottom hem. Styled with the classic Flyers team crest, the v-neck garment has been fully fashioned in tackle twill adornments with “Howe” placed directly onto the nameplate in single-twill. The intact fight strap has also been reinforced. A COR along with LOA from MeiGray will accompany.
Great use is visible on the sweater, with marks and burns over each sleeve, along with a pair of team repairs on verso near the numbers. There is also some staining to the left sleeve’s elbow.
