Playing his junior hockey with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, Lyle Odelein would be drafted 141st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1986 and win a Stanley Cup with the famed bleu, blanc et rouge in 1993. Suiting up in the National Hockey League for a total of 1056 games split between eight (8) different franchises over 16-years, offered here is this photo-matched jersey worn by Odelein as a member of the New Jersey Devils during the 1996-97 season. Made by CCM and featuring both "Goalie Style" and size "60" labels affixed to the inner collar, with Odelein's number "24" penned to the earlier of the two (2) labels mentioned in black marker ink that has become washed out from numerous washings, the logos of the NHL and CCM have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a familiar Devils team crest in layered tackle twill, Odelein's number "24" is sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer white-over-black tackle twill numerals while "Odelein" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the reverse. Exhibiting good game-wear throughout, stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves while board burns and team repairs are present over both sleeves as well. WIth a small unrepaired hole seen over the right sleeve and popped seams and reinforcements around the collar, a Devils team stamp is found inside the reverse hem that denotes the jersey as being a "1996-97 Season 1st Set" offering while the fight strap has had an extension sewn onto it. Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #1181869248 (December 10th, 1996 vs Toronto) to the stick mark that is observed in the "4" on the right sleeve.
