The Frank Mahovlich Auction - October 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/18/2005
White Atlanta Flames mesh and knit combo worn by 1972 Series hero Paul Henderson during his single season with the team in 1979-80. Screened logo and numbers with a two-tone tackle twill nameplate. Tagged by Russell Athletic in size XL with the Reeder & McGaughey tag off to one side. Great wear with loads of stick slashes especially on the belly and a lone team repair on the right sleeve (a rare sight on a mesh Flames uniform). It must also be noted that this shirt does not display the typical cracking found on most examples of the heavily screened Russell mesh uniforms from the late-Seventies. The shirt has been video matched to on-ice action from the season and will come with a VHS tape of the game. These old defunct NHL jerseys are drying up! Paul Henderson scored the winning goals in Games 6, 7 and 8 of the Canada-Russia Series in 1972 and his series winner has often been called the most famous goal in the history of hockey.
