Classic Collectibles is very excited to offer the breathtaking artwork of Doug West, artist for the Hockey Hall of Fame throughout the 1990's. This is a rare opportunity to own a one of a kind original painting done by "America's Premier Sports Artist." Mr. West was first commissioned in 1990 by the Detroit Red Wings to paint seven players, a project which led to his association with the Hockey Hall of Fame and the artist's major undertaking to produce works of art to be used as postcard-sized, limited edition art cards which were available in 18-card sets throughout the first half of the 1990's. Each masterful creation was painted on double-weight illustration board, using the unique medium of opaque watercolor, with West commanding his unique watercolor approach to give each artwork a striking, life-like appearance. Priding himself in his Hall-of-Famer portraiture, West excites each hockey fan to relive their greatest hockey memories in these captivating masterpieces. There is only one original painting available of each. A thought-provoking work by artist Doug West, this painting depicts Harry "Hap" Holmes in the uniform of the Detroit Cougars, the team Holmes ended his 16-year pro career with in 1927-28. Known as a fearless netminder, Holmes was one of the most successful in hockey's early years of professional play. He is one of only a few men to have won the Stanley Cup with four different teams, backstopping the Toronto Blueshirts ('11-12), Seattle Metropolitans ('16-17) Toronto Arenas ('17-18) and Victoria Cougars ('24-25) to the title. The AHL's top goaltender, since 1941, the year Holmes died suddenly, receives the Harry Holmes Memorial Trophy.
