The Johnny Bucyk Auction - May 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2005
The goals continued to pile up at a steady pace for sniper Johnny Bucyk throughout the Sixties and Seventies. This important gathering of hardware serves to mark off the plateaus on his journey towards that magic number of 500. The collection includes a figural trophy presented to John for reaching his 200th NHL goal on Feb. 26, 1966. Goal number 250 is celebrated with this heavy brass hockey stick in miniature with the raised "250, John Bucyk, Feb. 18, 1968". A larger figural award holds a plaque proclaiming Bucyk's 300th NHL goal, on Jan. 7th, 1970. This milestone is also engraved on a massive 18-inch trophy bowl with a posed figure of a player at the pinnacle. When the 400th goal was recorded, Johnny was presented with the tallest trophy in the group, with the engraved plaque recognizing this feat, along with his 1000th point and 600th assist. The goal, scored on Oct. 30th, 1975 against St. Louis Blues netminder Yves Belanger, that gained John entry into the exclusive 500-Goal Club is recognized on this diminutive wooden plaque and gold-plated Gillette Trac II presentation razor. A fantastic collection, overall, in excellent condition. From the personal collection of Johnny Bucyk with his signed letter of authenticity.
