The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
After stops in 5 NHL cities and 340 games, defenceman Ab DeMarco Jr. suited up for the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association during the '77-78 season. DeMarco's blue and orange dureen Oilers jersey no longer has the manufacturer's tag in the neck. The big crest on the front features orange tackle twill while similar tackle twill numbers are sewn on the back and sleeves. "DeMarco" is heat-pressed onto a canvas-like nameplate which is sewn-on. The body of the shirt has been shortened and there's a quarter-size hole and stitching in the tail where the fight strap was cut out. Jersey shows nice game use with pilling, dirt stains in the elbow regions and several small unrepaired holes throughout; 14 on the front and 5 on the sleeves. The lone team repair is a 2-inch job near the neckline, close to the right shoulder. Awesome pre-NHL Oilers jersey is from the personal collection of Ab DeMarco Jr. who will sign a LOA that will accompany this splendid piece of WHA history.
