The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Interesting lot of Detroit Olympia playoff stubs is highlighted by a near mint one from game 2 of the 1943 Cup finals in which the Red Wings swept the Bruins, avenging a similar treatment they had received from Boston two years earlier. The Wings won the game 4-3 and then Johnny Mowers shutout the Bruins in games 3 and 4 in Boston. Two semi-final stubs are from 1946 with this time the Bruins beating the Wings in games 3 and 4 en route to a 4-1 series victory. The scores of the games (5-2 and 4-1) are written on the lightly creased stubs. A 1963 Cup finals stub is from Detroit's lone victory of the series, the Wings edging the Maple Leafs 3-2 in game 3 as Newfoundland native Alex Faulkner scored 2 goals, including the winner, and was named the game's 1st star
