The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Some tantalizing autographs grace both the shaft and blade of this "Battleship Special" model hockey stick. The blade is highlighted by the signature of deceased Hall-of-Famer Dick Irvin and a superb bold one of the incomparable Maurice Richard. Equally impressive autographs on the shaft are those of Bill Durnan, Butch Bouchard, Kenny Reardon and Doug Harvey who was in his rookie NHL season. Others from the '47-48 team to sign were Mosdell, Reay, Curry, Dussault, Chamberlain, Harmon, Fillion, Carveth, Leger, Locas and Riopelle. A thin coat of shellac has preserved the autographs in exceptionally bright condition. The reverse of the blade was signed by 18 players of the Alma Eagles, a Senior team in the Saguenay region of Quebec and who the Canadiens visited for 2 exhibition games February 11 and 12, 1948. Maurice Richard scored 5 goals as the Habs won one of the games 14-2. Likely a unique item and in spectacular condition. Comes with a LOA.
