This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Absolutely sensational game used, team signed stick was wielded by one of the best 2-way performers ever and signed by virtually every member of the Montreal Canadiens' last great dynasty. This is a stick used by Bob Gainey in the ‘78-79 playoffs when he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, leading the Habs to a 4th consecutive Stanley Cup title, being hoisted by his teammates shortly afterwards in a memorable scene. A total of 10 Hall-of-Famers signed this Sher-Wood PMP which is date stamped April 27, 1979 on the back of the shaft. Ballpoint signatures include those of Gainey, Dryden, Cournoyer, Lafleur, Shutt, Lemaire, Lapointe, Savard, Robinson and Langway while the potent supporting cast includes Larouche, Napier, Lambert, Risebrough, Tremblay, Mondou, Houle, Jarvis, Engblom, Chartraw, Hughes and Larocque. The sigs of Cam Connor and Dan Newman also help date this beauty. "B. Gainey 23" is stamped on the front of the shaft. The stick shows nice game use and is in excellent condition with no cracks. An exceptional piece of hockey history.
