The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
The Quebec Nordiques always iced competitive teams during their 7 years in the World Hockey Association and skated off with The Avco World Trophy in the spring of 1977. The Nords eliminated both the Whalers and Racers in 5 games and then came out on top of the Jets following a hard-fought 7-game series, Quebec prevailing 8-2 in the deciding 7th game. This is the mini Avco Cup trophy that team secretary Michele Lapointe received as a member of the winning side. A metal plaque with her name is on one side while the other features a plaque listing all the players' names. An engraved plaque below reads "Presented to the Nordiques de Quebec – World Champions 1976-77". The trophy stands just under 13" high and features a silver plated globe suspended in clear Lucite with an ornate silver cup mounted on top. Produced by the Balfour company, the trophy has been preserved in exceptional condition with just a little tarnish around the base to mention. From the personal collection of Michele Lapointe with her signed LOA.
