The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
The Montreal Canadiens racked up 102 regular season points in 1992-93, good for 4th place overall in the Wales Conference but were definitely not the favorites to come out with top playoff honors. After victories over Quebec and Buffalo in Adams Division matchups, the Canadiens took the Islanders in 5 games to claim the Prince of Wales championship and a trip to the Stanley Cup finals. Members of the Canadiens later received miniature Prince of Wales trophies to go along with their mini Stanley Cups. Four hockey sticks rise from the 2" wooden base to support a cup with removeable lid. A plaque on one side of the base in engraved "NHL Champions – Montreal Canadiens – 1992-93", while another on the opposite side reads "Prince of Wales Trophy – Michele Lapointe". Lapointe was the team's all important travelling secretary and also responsible for public and media relations. She has preserved this trophy in outstanding near mint condition. It will come with its original protective pouch from Boffey and the NHL-identified presentation box, along with Michele Lapointe's signed LOA.
